As part of Ontario’s province-wide lithium-ion battery fire prevention campaign this fall, the Burlington Fire Department is partnering with Burlington Green's and attending the Zero Waste event on Saturday October 18, 2025, from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

Residents are encouraged to drop off unwanted electronics, used batteries, and expired smoke alarms for proper disposal. To promote fire safety at home, a limited number of free replacement smoke alarms will be offered to those who bring in an expired unit.

The event will also raise awareness about the fire risks of improper storage and handling of lithium-ion batteries, with firefighters on hand to provide safety tips and answer questions.
